From Cal Trans - "SNOW IS NOT REMOVED FROM THE TRAVELWAY NIGHTS, WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS" FROM 20 MI NORTH OF TRINITY CENTER (TRINITY CO) TO 3 MI SOUTH OF CALLAHAN (SISKIYOU CO) /SCOTT MOUNTAIN/ - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO CARRY CHAINS. Highway 3 is NOT suitable for travel for long length vehicles. There are length limits. Contact the California Highway Patrol for more information.

If you do not know about this highway, you should. Especially in the winter as it can be an alternate route to get you around big storms and closures at Mt. Shasta on I 5 and California State Highway 89.
